We started selling long distance service in 1991. We founded Protel Telecommunications (Protel) in January, 1992. Our old web-site was www.mei-protel.com. Protel has consistently provided low-cost quality telecommunication service to our customers.
Our early growth was the result of the recommendations of our very satisfied customers. In 1998, we opened our first web page and the growth since then has been spectacular.
Over the years, we have provided long distance service through a variety of companies to clients throughout the United States, always with the intent of providing quality service at the lowest possible cost. We have always acted on behalf of our clients and have fought their battles with their local telephone companies and their long distance carriers. Currently, we are agents for several companies, including PNG Telecommunications, Ernest Communications, Calling Cards.com and ZapTel.
We are proudly a family-run home business . We provide you, the customer, with professional, personalized service. You, as a homeowner or a small or medium-sized business owner, are given the clout of a big corporation with low "industrial strength" pricing.
The name "Protel" is currently in use by a Mexican Telephone company (among others) partially owned and operated by VarTec® Communications. We are in no way affiliated or associated with this company or any other with the same or similar name. We have recently been receiving many (daily) complaints from customers of this or another Protel telling us horror stories of huge overcharging for service they did not even know they had ordered. Please rest assured, we are not that Protel. Our service is honest; as you will read below, there are only three people in our office and we want you to save money. If we earn a small profit, that pays us for our time; our primary goal is to make happy customers who will tell their friends about us! If you heard about us through telemarketing, that isn't us. We hate telemarketing ourselves; why would we subject our future clients to it?
You
can phone Protel Telecommunications at 1-800-4-PROTEL (1-800-477-6835).
Please call during regular business hours, M-F, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mountain
Time. You can fax us at (916) 992-1477. Give us a call; we'd love to chat!

Of course, grandparents have to show off their grandchildren. Anthony, Jason, Sarah and Kevin are the children of Tina, Lori's daughter. Anysa is the daughter of Jilliann, Eugene's daughter.

One
of our hobbies is motor car operation. Here we are in our MT-14 Fairmont
motorcar on March 26, 1998, on the first day we ran the car, at SilverBend
Farm in Clarksburg. We were married on the train there in 1988 and are
still on our honeymoon. By the way, we are leaving that hobby and the car
is for sale for $8500.
Three years ago, we recently purchased a 36½' Itasca Horizon coach. In February, 2004, we traded in the Itasca for a 40 ft Alfa See Ya Gold diesel pusher motorhome and have become active in the Family Motor Coach Association. Our number is F300960. In 2002 we traveled across country in our to New York and the New England States into New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island (we fell in love with that Province) and drove the TransCanada Highway back to Vancouver and returned to our former home in Rio Linda, CA over three months later. We belong to two FMCA chapters "The GetAways" and go on frequent weekend retreats with them. In November, 2003, she was elected President of the GetAways. We are also members of the Golden Spike Chapter.
In February, 2003, we drove the motorhome to El Paso, TX where we joined a caravan of 13 other motorhomes for a 17 day trip into Mexico, to ride through the Copper Canyon, with our coaches riding on flat cars of the Chihuahua Pacifico Railroad (El Chepe!). We can, without reservation, recommend Mexico Adventures, Ltd, a Mexican company, which hosted our journey. Check out this website as well: http://www.mexonline.com/mexico-adventures.htm. What a fabulous trip!
Lori is President of Protel. She has had a varied career in the business world. Among other activities, she was office manager at a medical office, earned a real estate license on her first try and sold real estate, earned an insurance sales license and sold fire and casualty insurance (again passing the state exams on the first try!), owned her own candle factory and shop, has been a bookkeeper and is a California certified massage therapist. She is the founder and was President of the Rio Linda-Elverta Library Foundation, a non-profit California Corporation established to raise funds to build a new Library in the Rio Linda-Elverta area of Sacramento County. She remains President of the Rio Linda Affiliate of the Sacramento Friends of the Library, even though now living in Idaho. She has served on the Citizens Planning Committee for development within the Elverta area. Lori was interviewed by a local business newspaper. Her interview is available here. Read what she says about her business and her philosophy.
I, Eugene, am an active model railroader, a member of Sacramento Modular Railroaders, founder of European Train Enthusiasts, founder of International Railfair, past editor of the Lineup, the Motorcar Operators West 16 page, bimonthly newsletter, webmaster for the Sacramento Modular Railroaders web page, author of a laboratory syllubus for the class and examination questions for anatomy and physiology classes, professor emeritus of human anatomy and physiology at Sacramento City College where I worked for 40 years and a graduate (B.A.-1954 and M.A. - 1957) of U.C. Berkeley in Zoology.
Tina Biggers, our Executive Account Manager is Lori's daughter and largely runs the business today. She has incredible office skills and keeps everyone organized. When you phone, it will usually be Tina who answers the phone. Her desk has both a PC and a Mac computer and it is not at all unusual to see her working on both computers at the same time (well almost the same time).
Our individual skills complement each other. We love working with each other and love being able to save our clients real cash. We offer our service with a clear conscience knowing that what we say is the truth and that our customers truly will save money. Our motto is "Integrity before Profit." We treat our customers like we would like to be treated.
All of our computers are networked and connected to a large server which stores our data base containing our client records. The firewall provides security and our records are available to no one except those to whom we send the information (by fax). Our records are not for sale nor used for any purpose other than what you sign up for. Your e-mail address is not used for spamming!
If you are concerned, read our privacy statement.
