Contacting the Better Business Bureau

The company owning the web site you are reading (protel-com.com) does no telephone solicitation and does not bill customers directly. We are agents for PowerNet Global and any bill you receive for service through our company (Protel Telecommunications) is from PowerNet Global and no other!

To gain access to information about the Protel company with whom you might have a problem:

1. Click here or type in http://www.bbb.org/; this is the official web site of the Better Business Bureau.
2. In the upper left hand corner there is a box labeled "before you invest or give." Click on the "business" line. You will be taken to a search page.
3. Enter the word PROTEL in the box beside the word "Name" and click on the box labeled "Search."
4. You will be taken to a page labeled "Database Search Results"
5. Scroll down the page and click on the the line "Professional Teleservices, Inc. (PROTEL COMMUNICATIONS)" with an address of 14001 63rd Way in Clearwater, FL
6. You will open a page entitled "BBB Reliability Report". Here you can read about the company and if it appears necessary, you may file a complaint by clicking the box at the head of the page.

The irate (and weeping*) people who have contacted us thinking we are the company debiting their checking accounts have noted that they had apparently gotten their long distance service hooked up to Protel when they applied for a credit card . They received a telephone solicitation for the card from Encore Financial. We have no way of knowing how the Clearwater Florida "Protel" is tied into Encore Financial, or even if there is a connection. The Clearwater Florida company at least seems to resolve complaints filed through the Better Business Bureau. But if you want to read a horror story, read what the BBB has to say about Encore Financial of St. George, Utah by entering that name into the Search page and scrolling down to the Encore Financial located in St. George Utah!

*One young woman was in tears. She had had tiny amount in a banking account for her and her children for the two weeks left in the month and Protel (not us!) had debited her account to pay for the telephone service (not for phone calls, but simply for the recurring monthly service charge) and naturally overdrew her account in the process. How can companies be so cruel to prey upon these folks who are trying to survive?
