It has come to our attention that a company providing telecommunication services which also uses the name "Protel" is working with a company called Encore Financial. Encore Financial offers its clients with a poor credit report a secure credit card. Once the information for the credit card is obtained, they are signed up for long distance service (even if they do not have a land-line phone!) for which they are charged $39.95 or $59.95 monthly with the charges deducted automatically from their checking account. We advise individuals who are dissatisfied with the policies of this company to contact the Attorney General of their state, the state Public Utilities Commission and the FCC (http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html).
