Cell phones versus Land Line phones

These days, cell phones are everywhere. They are convenient and, except when or where illegal, even usable while you're in a moving vehicle. Most have flat rate billing and with no roaming and no long distance, are being used more and more frequently for both business and personal calls. And you can opt to attach a toll free number to your cell phone, so that you can still receive your business calls while on the road. Yes, cell phones are here to stay.

But consider this. Cell phones are not totally secure. Even with the newest technology, there is always someone out there who has the ability to hack into the service.

How many times have you lost a signal or run out of battery power in the middle of an important call? Or you cannot be heard or understood because the transmission quality is not good. And they are an expensive luxury/necessity!

Another issue which for many is still important is that a phone line may be necessary for internet browsing. Since you have the line for that, you might as well use the telephone for voice communication as well. There are hardware devices you can purchase which will allow you to browse the internet and still be aware of your incoming calls, even informing you with a pop-up window on your monitor the identity of the caller.

And lastly, cell phones simply do not work when you wander away from the interstate highways and cities. There are still occasional pay phones in the "out-back" and a free post-paid calling (travel) card can be a handy thing to have when your car breaks down.

For all their benefits, cellular phones have their limitations.
